1950s

The company “Relais- und Feinwerkbau Essen Helmut Mauell” was founded in Essen-Werden in 1957. The patenting of the MR10 signaling relay is still a great success today. The patent for the MR 11 signaling relay followed in 1959. The company focused on the development of auxiliary, timing and flashing relays.

1960s

The company moved to Velbert-Neviges in 1960 for reasons of space. The new core product “mosaic technology” was patented in 1961, and work was underway to develop special elements for mosaic images. The workforce doubled in 1965 with the takeover of the Schorn company. The first electronic control and signaling system DIGIMATIC was introduced onto the market in 1966. Mauell AG is the first subsidiary to be established in Switzerland.

1970s

The company Helmut Mauell do Brasil Ltda. was founded in 1970 providng sales and production tasks in South America. The Mauell Corporation in New Jersey was founded as a sales company in 1971 and began production in 1972. In accordance with the size of the Mauell Group, the name was changed to Helmut Mauell GmbH in 1972. The entry into network control technology began in 1979 with the development of the ME 8000 microprocessor system.

1980s

The company's 25th anniversary was in 1982. Helmut Mauell BV was founded in the Netherlands. In 1990, the ME – VIEW operating and monitoring system was developed.

In 1997 the company celebrated its 40th anniversary.

2000s

The Mauell large-screen rear projection was used in a project for the first time in 2001. The newly developed automation system for network control technology ME 4012 PA will be officially presented at the Hanover Trade Fair in 2006. The company has existed for 50 years.

2010s

The Bilfinger Power Systems GmbH group took over Helmut Mauell GmbH in 2012. Mauell GmbH became independent again in a management buyout in 2016. The network control technology business unit will be sold to Phoenix Contact GmbH in 2017; the business areas are realigned and placed on a solid path.

The company‘s owenership is changing hands and has been managed as an independent, owner-based company since July 2023.
